Sing and Sign

Terms and Conditions

Please read the following carefully before making your booking, especially the section on our class replacement policy to understand and accept our terms in the event of disruption. When making a Sing and Sign booking we promise you a course of learning via our established curriculum. This will be either in a venue, or online if venue class delivery is disrupted (by the teacher or if you cannot make a class for illness, holiday, etc) or fully online if you have booked Sing and Sign Class@Home only. The course content is still delivered in full. Please be aware that you need internet access and broadband for online delivery of the course. Please let us know before making your booking if you will not be able to watch online or have an objection to doing so, as in making your booking you are accepting our terms for possible online delivery of a portion of the course in the event of possible disruption.

Sing and Sign Terms and Conditions
These terms and conditions have been revised for 2022/2023, and cover several elements, including in person and @Home courses, as well as Covid-19 specific guidelines. Please read them carefully before booking, as your booking is made with complete acceptance of these terms.
Classes must be booked and paid for in advance for the full term. I do not accept bookings for part of a term (unless a term has already started). I guarantee you your place in the class every week for that term.

Booking System
Places are offered on a first come, first served basis. New enrolments are accepted during the term if there are spaces available in the class.
To secure a place in a class, please place your booking online and pay the class fee. Pay via card payment using Stripe. I cannot guarantee your place until payment has been received.
If you have booked onto a taster session that takes place in Week 1 of term and would like to book a place for the remainder of the course, the cost of the taster will be deducted from the remainder of term fee.

Refunds policy
Refunds are available if you withdraw from class in the following cases:
  • You may cancel your booking within the statutory 14 day cooling off period after purchase.
  • If a portion of the course or a period of online access to resources has already been delivered then that portion will be deducted from your refund
  • If the 14 day period has ended and you wish to pull out of the course after the first lesson has been delivered please let me know within 24 hours. You may cancel the remainder of your booking less an admin fee of £10 and the proportional cost of the content already delivered. If the 24 hour period has passed, refunds will be at my discretion.
  • If you miss the first class of term due to illness, holiday or any other reason and would like a refund please let me know within 24 hours. You may cancel the remainder of your booking less an admin fee of £10 and the proportional cost of the content already delivered. If the 24 hour period has passed refunds will be at my discretion.
  • If you withdraw from the class for any reason after the second class, refunds will be at my discretion, on a pro-rata basis, including £10 admin fee.
  • If a term is cancelled, you will receive a full refund.
  • If a class is cancelled due to adverse weather conditions there will be no refunds due, but every attempt will be made to put on a replacement class, where this is possible, or access to the online classes will be given.
  • If in person classes are cancelled for more than two weeks because of local lockdowns (or similar situations beyond our control) then I will run a live Zoom session in place of the classes after the first two and no refund will be applicable.
  • If no Zoom class provision can be made, a refund will be offered for the live class portion of your course fee for any sessions missed above and beyond the two classes described in the previous bullet points. You may instead defer this amount to be a discount on next term's course, or an item from the Sing and Sign shop, at your teacher's discretion.
  • If you are unable to attend a class due to an appointment, holiday, or illness (including suspected Covid-19, or being asked to self-isolate by NHS Test & Trace) or any other reason, if you are a Stage 1 or Stage 2 customer you can enjoy that week’s Class@Home. Whether Babes, Stage 1 or Stage 2 you will not be refunded for classes you do not attend nor can you offer your place to someone else.
Sing and Sign @Home (Stage 1 and Stage 2) Online Content Only Booking
Please make sure you understand ahead of time how the course will be delivered so that you can be sure this course is right for you before you book and pay for your place.
  • Each lesson is available to view as often as you like for 7 days, and is available from Monday morning each week.
  • You will not be able to go back and view previous lessons. Your password will only access one week’s class at a time. However, your class fee includes access to the broader learning resources, so you will be able to watch the video shorts which support each week of the course, and read advice from previous lessons at any time you like.
  • Gold membership will also give you access to stream the video from the Stage 1 DVD, plus 2 additional videos which recap the key songs and signs from the course
  • You will need to spend at least 30 minutes per week to do each class with your baby. This might be in one chunk or broken down into shorter sessions throughout your week.
  • You will need an internet enabled device that is capable of streaming video content plus a broadband connection of sufficient speed to stream video content. It is often possible to cast the classes to your TV depending on your device and TV capabilities. Please make sure your devices will allow you to view the classes in the way that you want to watch them. We are great at baby signing but not so hot on technical issues and so may be unable to give advice on device problems/internet connections/casting etc. It is your responsibility to ensure you are happy with all of these aspects before you book and pay for your place.
Guidance for Attending In Person Classes
As well as booking a place in one of our in person classes, you will also have access to our @Home course, as set out above. If you are unable to attend your booked class on a regular basis, please talk to me about it. It may be possible for you to visit a different class, or to transfer to a different class. However, please consult me before doing so. Sing and Sign has strict limits on the numbers allowed in classes.
When you attend a class:
  • Please do not give food in class, milk and drinks are fine but keep them close by. Someone may have a food allergy.
  • Please refrain from using your phone during classes. If you do need to take an urgent phone call, please take your baby with you.
Please do not attend class if:
You or your child are sick or suffering from the following:
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Diarrhoea
  • Vomiting
  • Temperature over 37.8
  • Hand, Foot and Mouth
  • Impetigo
  • Unexplained rashes
  • Covid-19 symptoms (cough, fever, loss of taste/smell)
These conditions require 48 hours (2 days) incubation period of which the child should be symptom free. This is for the protection of other babies, pregnant mothers and your teacher.

Please STRICTLY observe Government guidelines on infectious diseases such as Coronavirus, Flu, Ebola, etc. If you have travelled to an affected country you are REQUIRED to observe the quarantine procedures without exception. If you are told to isolate please do not attend class until you are told it is safe to do so.

Children’s behaviour in class
Our classes are designed to be fun for everyone, and I hope your baby will enjoy class and be thoroughly engaged with the teacher and the other children.
  • What if my baby/toddler won't sit on my lap? Don't worry! Classes are relaxed and friendly. If your baby wants to explore the room that is fine. You can have fun doing the songs and signs at home when you have their full attention. If your baby is happy to sit in a buggy, chair (such as a bumbo-type seat), or forward-facing sling, you are welcome to bring one along.
  • It is inevitable that more adventurous movers will want to explore, but please bear the following in mind: while you may be happy for your baby to touch others or their belongings, they may not feel the same. Please respect other people's space.
  • What if my baby is crying in class? Don't worry! We've all been there! If your baby is distressed for any reason and crying at length, we suggest stepping away from the teaching area until they have re-settled to avoid additional pressure on yourself and disruption to the wider class. Please make sure that you respect social distancing guidelines in the venue if you leave the teaching room.

Stage 1 and Stage 2 Course Disruption (see separate info below for Babes Course Disruption)
  • If your class is cancelled due to local lockdown/weather/illness or similar situation beyond our control meaning up to 2 classes are missed then everyone attending Stage 1 and Stage 2 watches the appropriate lesson of the week Class@Home instead (please see note above regarding internet requirement). No refund is applicable for a single or double Stage 1 or Stage 2 class disruption as our curriculum continues in full online (and our own venue hire and teacher wages costs will still apply)
  • If there is a longer lockdown or further disruption to the course and it becomes necessary to cancel more than two classes of the course, your teacher will launch face to face classes over Zoom, alongside the @home pre-recorded classes. Please let us know before making your booking if this is a potential problem for you. Your teacher will make all efforts to run a Zoom class on your usual class day, although in some circumstances this may not be possible and flexibility might be needed. If your teacher is unable to run Zoom sessions, she will endeavour to arrange them through another Sing and Sign teacher wherever possible. You will also have access 24/7 to the appropriate weekly pre-recorded lesson online.
  • If no Zoom class provision can be made, you will be able to enjoy our pre-recorded class @home. This fulfills our commitment to you under these terms to deliver in full the curriculum you have paid for.

Babes Course Disruption
  • If your Babes class is cancelled due to local lockdown/weather/illness or similar situation beyond our control your teacher will reschedule your class, or run your class over Zoom.  Please let us know IN ADVANCE OF MAKING YOUR BOOKING if this is a potential problem for you. Your teacher will make all efforts to run the Zoom class on your usual class day, although in some circumstances this may not be possible and flexibility might be needed. If your teacher is unable to run Zoom sessions, she will endeavour to arrange them through another Sing and Sign teacher wherever possible.
  • If no Zoom class provision can be made a date for a replacement venue class will be offered to you, if that is possible. Alternatively, this class may be deferred to allow for a discount on next term's course, or an item from the Sing and Sign shop, at your teacher's discretion.

Resuming Classes in Venues after Course Disruption
  • In the event of disruption to the course, timings for resuming live classes in venues will be determined by us, based on factors including (but not limited to): guidance at the time, availability of any/all venues, sufficient numbers for any/all classes/venues, the prevailing conditions and our responsibility for everyone’s safety. Where necessary, a decision may be taken to complete the term online.
  • Once in-venue teaching has resumed, apart from where courses were booked as live streamed only, any live catch-ups/full class sessions that had been offered during a lockdown may reduce in number, or cease to be available, even where it is a customer’s choice not to return to their booked live venue course and no refunds will be due. Access to Stages 1 and 2 pre-recorded @Home content will continue.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Can I carry over money from missed classes to the next term? Sorry, you can’t do this. There is a lot of repetition from week to week as well as videos online, so if you miss a week for any reason, you’ll soon be able to catch up.
  • Can I bring a friend and their baby to class as a trial? Please do not bring friends along to class unannounced. I do not often allow taster sessions during term time because it may be seen as discourteous and disruptive to the parents who have committed to the full term of classes. If you'd like to bring a family member along to a class that is fine. Please let me know before hand so I can prepare the room before hand.
  • Can I bring older siblings along? Please ask your teacher before bringing an older sibling along.
  • Can I feed my baby in class? Milk feeds are absolutely fine during class, but we do ask that no solids are given in the classroom just in case someone has a food allergy.
